STMT
Concept, Design
In classes and workshops I often get questions about where ideas come from. That’s a big topic for a class which isn’t explicitly about that question so I started building a series of tools that quickly come up with ideas and illustrate the power of creating unexpected associations; an exploration of focused randomization applied to the creative process. This thesis/project generator is a work-in-progress and it’s intended for students, artists and designers who have the itch to make something but don’t know where to begin. The first draft was a simple spreadsheet and that data has since been brought into javascript to generate concepts riffing on source code from Justin Bakse’s Computational Form class at Parsons School of Design. The final project, STMT, was designed by myself and developed by the brilliant, Aarati Akkapeddi.
Early iteration
The generator above focused on concept statements while this version is a code-driven solution for creating more emotional and evocative titles for projects.
